Hello from Idyllwild!!
Estero and I started the PCT on a beautiful day last week.
It is wonderful to be hiking again. 5 months of hiking with a sweet boy? Yes, please. 🙂
I am feeling very, very lucky.
We are doing great so far — the miles are coming easily, and only 2 (healed) blisters for me. Estero’s feet are still perfect.
I have quickly learned that hiking in the desert is completely different than the AT or FT. The terrain is easier (steady ups and no rocks!!), but the heat and sun has forced us to seek shelter in the shade for a long lunch break. I am trying my best to stay hydrated, but it’s hard, sometimes.
Sorry for such a quick update. We’re heading to resupply and have a long day ahead as we climb to 10,000 feet (San Jacinto).

Geez, Acorn! A poisonous snake on your tent and backpack and straw hat, I could not do that! How did you get it to wiggle away and leave you alone!?!! You brave girl!! The AT, and then the FT–and now the PCT–Lucky Girl!!

I have been thrilled to follow you since we crossed paths on the AT way back in NC around the NOC. My son and I have not made the miles you have, but we are headed back to the AT in May to make some more miles crossing the GSMNP.

This seems like a nice long hike. Great pictures! I would surely have been freaked out by that rattlesnake. The burgers are a fit way of celebrating the success of completing the long road.
You both make a darling couple. Enjoy the hike. As someone who has always enjoyed hiking in the woods, but never got enough time to do what the two of you are doing, I have to envy you. Now I’m just too old to do much.
Hi! Have been following your blog since finding it on your AT hike. My niece hiked it at the same time as you, her trail name was SRocket. Your blog is fabulous as is your pictures! You definitely give followers a glimpse into the similarities and vast differences between the trails and a window into the country’s landscape most will never see.
